Vintage brooch. Man with braid and baskets of gemstones

This collection came to me as part of an estate.  I can't attest to the material, but believe it is base metal, gold plate and gemstones.  A person carrying baskets on sticks across the shoulders, the baskets are filled with gemstones. The outfit makes me think this is meant to look Chinese, but the baskets and hat bring to my mind Vietnam.  Perhaps it was not meant to be quite so specific.  There is a lot of jade in this collection, but the stones in this basket might be jade, but might also be green agate.  Again, apologies, I am uncertain.  Approx 1.5" high by 2.3" wide. Whatever it is, it's truly unique.
